Operation Groundswell - Backpacking With a Purpose
We are a student-run, non-profit organization that takes young
adults on backpacking adventures all over the world. Our
group-oriented trips combine volunteer work, cultural exchange and
a strong travelers ethic for people who are tired of looking at the
world through televisions and tour-bus windows. We are looking for
students who want to step outside the classroom and into the
world.
Real experiences with real people in really cool places.
Though we offer programs to many regions of the world, we'd like to
bring your attention to Forestry specific programs. Our India Eco
program will be working with the Sadhana Forest project in southern
India where participants will help re-generate the rainforest while
learning sustainable farming techniques. A second program of
interest is the Guyana - Off the Grid program. For this program,
participants will be working in the primary rainforests of Guyana
while learning about Amerindian survival techniques.
